Why would the pump stop suddenly while vacuuming the pool? We have a vinyl liner which has been stretched from water getting under it when we have extremely heavy rains. When the vacuum head glides over this area it sucks the stretched vinyl into the hole. I have to pull the vacuum head hard to get it to let go. Sometimes it affects the the filter pull if I… don’t get it to release quick enough on my end. I have to wait until the filter regains its suction ability before continuing. Answer It depends what you mean when you say “the pump stops”.

Power wise, non-submersibles consume less energy so running costs are lower. The motor also has a much longer life span so long term cost of ownership is lower. Non-submersible pumps do however cost more initially and require more effort to setup pump installation Above or Below Pond Level? First you need to decide whether the pump will be installed above or below grade.

To hook up hoses to a pool pump and filter, attach the other end of the hose from the skimmer pipe to the pump, connect the opposite end of the return hose to the pool filter valve, and attach another hose to connect the pool pump and filter together.

For that reason, you need to clean your above-ground pool with a pool vacuum at least once a week. Pool vacuum setup takes only minutes, but you need to know the proper way to hook up the vacuum; otherwise, you might not get proper suction for the vacuum to do its job. Push the swivel end of the vacuum hose onto the vacuum head. You should hear this click into place. Some pools allow you to flip a switch to close the skimmer instead of using a plug.

Skip this step if your pool only has one skimmer. Push approximately 6 inches of hose at a time under water, starting with the end attached to the vacuum head. Push the skimmer adapter disk onto the vacuum hose.

Get help The following article focuses on Electrical requirements concerning permanently installed above ground pools. First we need to point out the difference between a storable pool and a permanently installed pool. The pool must not be capable of containing water depth exceeding 42″ or of metal sides or this pool would not meet the NEC definition of a storable pool. A pool can not be installed inside a structure of any kind, and meet the NEC definition of a storable pool.

A pool that is of plastic and has a maximum water depth of less than 42″ will meet the NEC definition of a storable pool.

The Great White pool cleaner comes with 32 feet of hose and a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty. Its lightweight makes it easy to lift in and out of the pool. It also doesn’t require hookup to the skimmer. Polaris While a pressure side cleaner relies on the pool pump using the return line as a source of power, it does not put as.

Installation of Pool and Spa Filters Installing a pool filter is a fairly straightforward process, but it always requires care and the faithful following of a few basic rules. The text below covers those basics, but before you start cutting PVC and lubricating O-rings, remember that this is a generic guide and that you should always consult manufacturers’ literature before working with any unfamiliar products.

Beyond that, once you survey the situation by inspecting the equipment pad, the plumbing design and the electrical system, you should be ready to go. Sizing up the task at hand When it comes to filters, some of the most fundamental considerations can make the biggest differences. Where the unit is located, how neatly it is incorporated into the overall circulation system and how it’s tied into the pool’s electrical circuitry are all very important. The equipment pad should be a flat, level slab of poured concrete, brick or concrete block.

Never install a new filter on wood, because it can warp or decay beneath the filter’s footings and compromise the position of the unit. Three things to watch: First, filters should always be installed on a level surface; if things aren’t square, the unit may vibrate or operate to less than its optimum ability. Second, filters should be located as close to the pool as possible. Third, the filter should have adequate drainage and should be positioned to provide plenty of room for service access and maintenance.

The plumbing should be designed and installed with the shortest lines and the least number of fittings needed to achieve optimum water flow efficiency in the circulation system. If the filter is most conveniently installed away from the pool, however, increasing the pipe size between the filter and the pool will decrease the head resistance and compensate for a longer run. Inspect the plumbing so you can be prepared with the proper fittings and materials.

How to convert a Summer Escapes to either a Intex sand pump filter or Intex Saltwater or the combo system. Knowing myself I do not like hose clamps, and the plastic ones included in the kit seem very cheap. I am a big fan with screw type connections. That why I choose to have my system to be all 1. I also do not like 1. I figure now with a bigger pump I like to have everything at 1.

The stronger this component is, the better it will pump and the longer life it will have, so you want to get a model that has a decent sized motor on it. However, the downside to this is that you will have to keep gas on hand for such a situation, and they break down more easily than electric models because they have more components working together. Overall, these models last longer, but they are limited to where they can operate. Higher end models may show gallons per minute, but it will be rare that you need to move so much water at once.

Overall, the GPH rating will need to be high if you are planning on draining flooded areas or moving water quickly. A decent number would be gallons per hour, but some models may go as low as or less, depending on your needs. Thus, for example, if you have ten feet of lift, you can raise the hose that height while still having water flow through.

Installing a Propane Swimming Pool Heater Posted on by Davy Merino October 15, If you live in an area without natural gas service, but want the comfort and convenience of a gas pool heater, you can install a propane gas pool heater! Just about any natural gas heater you can buy is also available as a propane heater. The only difference is in the orifice sizes, for the gas valve and burner orifices.

LPG heaters also cost exactly the same as a natural gas heater. Propane heaters should be placed on a non-combustible surface, with feet of clear space all around. They should not be placed indoors, or near any window openings or intakes for the house. Above the heater should be clear sky, no overhanging stairs, low eaves or roof line. Cut the return pipe after it has exited the filter, and using schedule 40 PVC, connect pipes in and out of the heater, and reconnect the exit pipe back to the return line.

Chlorinators should be moved downstream, after the heater, and at ground level, to prevent corrosive fumes from backing up. You can still buy a millivolt heater, which requires no power supply, but wiring a digital heater is easy. Use V or V, and follow the instructions to connect power inside of the heater. Propane Gas Connection This is the easy part. Just call up your local propane providers, and tell them you want a quote to install propane tanks and make a connection to your new propane pool heater.

The size of the heater will determine the size of the propane tank and regulators.
